Welcome to Hwel! Did you ever want to ride an unknown creature down the side of a mountain surrounded by the pleasant smell of ash knowing that you are free to do whatever you want whenever you want to? You might enjoy Hwel, a plane where there are no more rules. It might smell like sulfur, and most of the inhabitants you will find might have a few horns or claws, but you know what they say about judging a book by its cover. Some might even want to be your friend! There is just one tiny detail you have to overlook though. Your would be allies aren’t exactly alive. Humans are very much last century and you probably won’t find many angels either. Instead, we have something better. Vampires, zombies, devils, and most importantly demons now run the joint. Don’t be afraid though, most would gladly teach you a thing or two if you’re willing to entertain them. So welcome to Hwel, enjoy your stay, and try not to let the freedom to do as you please get to your head.
When it comes to design goals, there were many moving parts and I wanted to make to really sell a chaotic feeling set. RB tinting is across the color pie and I aimed to get that feeling of pressure and control the pair so often has. Downside mechanics that are riff for you to abuse, sticky cards, effective 2 for 1's, efficient removal, and of course unrelenting creatures all are hallmarks of the color pair.
